Sunset Teacher of the Month
Mrs. Laura Allen has been employed by Carlsbad Municipal Schools for 19 years. She has spent all of those 19 years teaching first grade at Sunset. Mrs. Allen’s favorite thing about teaching first grade is teaching children to read. “The most wonderful feeling in the world is seeing the face of a child when they realize they can read and it’s fun! Per Ms. Allen, “The students keep me going – they are the reason that I come to work each day!”

Sunset Employee of the Month
Aimee Cooper has been with CMS for eight years. Ms. Cooper constantly maintains a courteous and professional work disposition.  Her dedication, effectiveness, and professionalism is evident at all times. Ms. Cooper is respectful, kind, courteous, and trustworthy at all times; not only to staff and faculty, but to all students and parents whom she works with on a daily basis.

GOT Academy Success
Seniors who were lacking graduation credits were given the opportunity to participate in Credit Recovery coursework on the APEX program so they would be eligible to graduate with the class of 2019.

Senior Jacob Ruiz was able to complete 25 classes, earn 13 full credits, pass all required state assessments and he is ready for graduation.  We look forward to celebrating this achievement with the remaining 50 seniors who are continuing to complete their credit recovery courses.  Congrats Jacob Ruiz!
