About Our School
Cottonwood Elementary, located in the southeast corner of Carlsbad, New Mexico, is home to 684 proud Coyotes who embody a spirit of growth and achievement. In the 2024-2025 school year, Cottonwood’s academic progress skyrocketed to #10 in Math growth proficiency and #18 in Reading growth proficiency across all elementary schools in New Mexico with 400-800 students. This accomplishment reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, student development, and a supportive learning environment that empowers every student to succeed. Cottonwood Elementary was one of the pioneer schools to implement Opportunity Culture in Carlsbad. This dynamic staffing model has provided support to teachers and additional small group interventions for students.
