About Our School District

The Carlsbad Municipal School District, nestled in the Permian Basin of southeast New Mexico, serves a diverse group of over 7,100 students across a collection of educational facilities. With seven elementary schools, one preschool, one comprehensive high school, and the Carlsbad Early College High School offering college credit courses, CMSD stands out as a beacon of innovative educational opportunities. In addition, the Carlsbad Enrichment Center provides alternative learning paths that cater to varying student needs. CMSD prides itself on a well-rounded educational experience that includes a variety of sports and comprehensive extracurricular programs that cater to all student interests. Our programs not only emphasize academic excellence but also focus on career preparation, particularly in the vital oil and gas sector of our local economy. CMSD and the city of Carlsbad frequently collaborate on events that engage both students and families, fostering a strong community spirit and enhancing the educational experience.
