Inspection of Public Records (IPRA) Request
The Carlsbad Municipal School District (CMSD) complies with the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (NMSA 1978, Chapter 14, Article 2) and follows the procedures outlined in the New Mexico Attorney General’s IPRA Compliance Guide.
Notice of Right to Inspect Public Records
Under the Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA), every person has the legal right to inspect public records maintained by CMSD. The district is responsible for making records in its possession, or for which it is the custodian, available for public inspection in a timely manner.

Please follow the guidelines below when submitting an IPRA request:

Your mailing address (where requested documents will be sent)

A clear and specific description of the records you are requesting
Note: Requests for justifications of actions or explanations are not considered valid under IPRA.

Written requests may be submitted by letter, email, or memo. You may deliver your request using any of the following methods:

CMSD will respond in writing within three business days of receiving your request.

If the requested records exist and are subject to inspection, copies will be made available for review at the CMSD Central Office (408 N. Canyon, Carlsbad, NM).

If requested, records may be mailed to you.

For large or complex requests, associated costs will be communicated in advance.

You will receive an invoice upon delivery of records, if applicable.
